It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of the well-known wildlife artist and illustrator Jürek Zamoyski this morning. Jürek was born in Poland and emigrated to the United States in 1978. He began with airbrushing T-shirts and developed his skills into detailed illustrations in mixed media. His works graced magazine covers both inside and outside the airbrushing scene. In the 1990s, he was involved in the development of the Medea textile color line. His great passion was wildlife – both as a subject for art and in the wild. In 2012, he also shared his art in the AIRBRUSH STEP BY STEP magazine – with the step by step “The eye of the Tiger”, an interview and matching cover. A large-format canvas print of this cover is still hanging in the AIRBRUSH STEP BY STEP editorial office. His art remains unforgettable.
