Iwata X Sparmax 2026 International Airbrush Competition: The winners' artworks
For the past 10 years, the Taiwanese airbrush and compressor manufacturer Sparmax has been hosting an international airbrush competition every two years. The world’s best artists participate in the competition—for some, winning it has already meant a significant boost to their careers and international recognition as airbrush artists.
This year, Sparmax received additional support from the leading airbrush manufacturer Iwata, with which Sparmax is affiliated through a joint venture within the Anest Iwata Group. Among other things, several works were already exhibited in late May at the IWATA Annual Art Exhibition & Open House Event in Portland, Oregon, USA. Amateur and professional airbrush artists were invited to submit their works in five categories: Fantasy, Realism, Hobby/Model, Automotive, and Junior. The top three entries were selected by a jury consisting of renowned artists such as Dru Blair, Gerald Mendez, Jonathan Pantaleon, Marcus Eisenhuth, Neimar Duarte, Thomas Olczyk, Scott MacKay, and ASBS Editor-in-Chief Roger Hassler, and were awarded prizes in kind and cash prizes.
The winners were announced live on May 2 at the International Airbrush Days. In AIRBRUSH STEP BY STEP No. 81, 04/26 , we will showcase the works of all the winners, focusing this time on the ideas, techniques, and challenges the artists brought to their creations.
